Kelly's Ten Fanfictions

The Time Traveler's Wife - Finally I Can Move On

Finally I Can Move On has been written in the first person. The writer taking the Point of View (POV) of both Clare and Henry. It is written in the Present Tense, but interestingly changes to past tense for a few sentences towards the end. This fanfiction is written in the style of a sequel to the movie & book, but it also dives back in time to a scene from the movie; a scene the writer further develops. A descriptive piece of fanfiction which gives further insight into the characters & gives closure to a movie which, at the end, can leave you confused regarding one of the main characters.

Pride and Prejudice - Brighton

'Brighton' has been written in the third person, the same POV Jane Austin used in Pride and Prejudice. Written in the present tense; as a rewrite/sequel to an original scene. The writer has completely captured the characters of both Lizzie and her Father, and nailed the awkward character of Mary Bennet, the third eldest daughter. A thoroughly enjoyable piece of fanfiction, one that addresses & alters a scene which can leave you frustrated in the original Pride and Prejudice! A picture perfect ending, which should make even Jane Austin proud.

Princess Bride - Florin's Defence

Florin's Defence is written in the present tense, and from the POV of the third person. The fanfiction is written as a sequel, using characters from the movie. It doesn't introduce any new characters, but possibly could if longer. The first four sentences set the scene for the dialogue which follows. Throughout the dialogue, descriptive sentences keep the story interesting & give you a background to draw from. A solid ending, one that could easily be added to.

Veronica Mars - Love Is Strong

A fanfiction based on the popular tv series Veronica Mars. 'Love is Strong' is written in the third person and was written as a sequel to the second season of the tv series. Through utilizing the present tense, the writer captures both your attention and curiosity from the very beginning. Throughout the story it remains in the POV of the first person, but transitions between the perspective of two main characters. This assists in developing the story, as it gives perspective from two angles, in addition to some background for both of the main characters. This fanfic is highly charged with emotional dialogue, has a well-thought plot and an ending you would hope for. If you like luvvy duvvy fanfiction, this is for you!

Twilight - Seen You Before

'Seen You Before' is written in the POV of first person, the writer taking on the character of Bella. Written as a prequel to the Twilight Series, it begins when Bella is only young, and begins to reveal a part of Bella's life we know little about. This is a good start considering the thousands of fans who would pay to get even a slither of information not included in the movie or book. A good dialogue, but it could be more descriptive. It definitely has potential for a good plot, but the writer hasn't completely captured the personalities of the characters. This fanfiction leaves you wondering what will happen next, and needs a follow up to make it a good read.

Maximum Ride - The Unthinkable

Wow! The writer of this piece of fanfiction perfectly captures Max's character, and expresses emotions well throughout the story. Written in the first person, the story is based upon a scene in the book, which the writer has re-wrought, and concluded with an original ending; creating a rewrite/sequel. The story begins well, and besides changing the original plot, the writer has also changed other details to do with characters etc. Many of these details are details you wish changed while reading the original. The ending leaves the story open for imagination, and leaves the outcome after the main character's escape unknown. A great fanfiction; one that could easily be added to.

Boy In the Striped Pyjamas - Can't Understand

'Can't Understand' has been written in the first person, using the characters of Elsa and Ralf to create a sequel to 'Boy In the Striped Pyjamas'. This piece of fanfiction shows a deep understanding of the characters, and portrays a realistic outcome to such a devestating story. Switching POV between the characters Elsa and Ralf, it is written in the present tense, and although the characters don't interact, it does give a very strong impression of their relationship and feelings towards each other. It is written as a depiction of their thoughts over the death/murder of their young son in a Nazi concentration camp, when he is mistaken for a Jew. The style of writing works well, but you would need to know the story, and therefore the characters to be able to fully appreciate this fanfic.

Fried Green Tomatoes - Smokey's Tale

Written in the first person, the writer embodies the character of Smokey Lonesome. I loved this fanfic. It takes a character from the original story and portrays a series of events from his perspective (an 'Outside POV Story'). It begins in the present tense, with his friend Ruth's funeral. You then retrace Smokey's steps with a flashback to when he first met her. The flashback is a dialogue in which the writer portrays well the characteristics of both Smokey, Ruth and other minor characters. The story ends back in the present, with a tear-jerking scene at Ruth's funeral. The writer of 'Smokey's Tale' has done a great job, both with the script dialogue, and the 'descriptiveness' in the 'present' scenes!

Lord of the Rings - One Last Time

Written as a 'novel type' fanfiction, 'One Last Time' is set in between two scenes which are taken from a mixture of both movie and book. It is written as an extension to the original plot, with a new scene and the introduction of a new character, Sanya. The writer of 'One Last Time' has used the present tense to add depth to the new scenes, using dialogue throughout. The 'Tolkien' terminology used throughout the story is well researched, and produces a more realistic story. A happy happy joy joy ending, but rather weak in parts.

27 Dresses - Love Is a Losing Game

Set part way through the movie, this fanfiction, 'Love Is a Losing Game', focuses on one of the main characters, Kevin. It is written in the third person, and in the present tense introduces you to his thoughts at this particular point in the film. Written as an extension to a scene in the movie, it would be a great 'additional scene', and an extremely helpful insight for Jane! As Kevin reflects on his thoughts in this scene, they give an insight into his 'past' and shed light on his cynicism in the movie. A good piece of fanfiction that fits the character well.
